About the YPC
Dedicated to protecting the future of the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, the Young Professionals Council leads by example in engaging people under the age of 40 to support the Center, financially and through volunteer work, all while building a community of passionate people—fostered in the spirit of service, responsibility and fun—who want to make the world a better place for LGBT people.

A little more than three years ago, a group of young professionals
banded together to support the Center and the LGBT community.
The dynamic group grew and evolved into today’s powerhouse Young Professionals Council (YPC), which in 2009 raised $150,000 for Center services through events such as Halloweenie, Poolwatch and the YPC Beach Volleyball Tournament.
“It’s easy to get swept-up in the scene out here in L.A.,” says

Christoph Babka, a founding member and two-term Chair of the YPC.
“But the most genuine fulfillment and validation I’ve received has been from helping others—and being a part of the Center helps me do that."
Babka says he’s passionate about the YPC’s work because it brings together young, energetic leaders and amplifies their power to make a difference.
“It’s all our responsibility to take care of our own, and when we work together to do that, we create something extraordinary that couldn’t have been accomplished alone,” Babka says. |
