Required for guaranteed seating

Don’t miss this eye-popping evening with Jesse Bering, the brave and outspoken author of Perv: The Sexual Deviant In All Of Us. According to Bering, deep down, we are all sexual deviants in one form or another—and sexual deviancy is, in fact, not deviant at all. From the beginning of human history, people have engaged in anti-heteronormative behaviors, from bestiality to pedophilia and Bering will discuss how most sexual deviancy isn’t a choice, but rather is the result of a genetic predisposition over which the individual has no control. Bering, who is gay, will share what he has learned and discuss his own experiences of self-loathing and discrimination. This free event promises to be filled with hearty laughter, previously hidden truths and a clearer understanding of our sexual selves.

After the event, everyone will be welcomed to attend a reception in the Village Courtyard. Copies of PERV: The Sexual Deviant In All Of Us will be availabel for purchase and Jesse Bering will be available to sign books

 BQC Title Banner L.Cox

We're kicking off 2013 Trans Pride L.A. with this very special, intimate evening with actress, producer and stalwart activist, Laverne Cox. Listen to stories about her personal journey as an out and proud, black trans role model in entertainment/media and how she uses her celebrity to speak out for trans issues at the intersection of race, gender and class.

Ms. Cox made television history as the first African American transgender woman to appear on a reality television program, VH1’s I Wanna Work for Diddy. As winner of a 2009 GLAAD media award for Outstanding Reality Program, she went on to produce and star in her own television show, VH1’s critically acclaimed TRANSForm MeShe was most recently cast in the new Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black, which debuts in July.

As a trans-activist, Ms. Cox’s staunch commitment to transgender equality recently landed her on GLAAD's 2013 inaugural ‘Trans 100’ list. She was also named one of OUT Magazine’s Out 100 in 2010 and has appeared on numerous network talk shows and other venues discussing trans rights and speaking out for various trans-related issues.

This event promises to provide a rare peak into the heart, mind and soul of an amazing woman, a brave role model and leader unlike any that have come before or may ever come again.

After the event, everyone will be welcomed to attend a reception in the Village Courtyard to meet Ms. Cox and help us celebrate all she has done to make our community great.
